In the world of MMA, we don’t give a shit sometimes that it is just a fight.
You can get beat in a fight. You can get taken out of a fight. When that happens, there are only so many other things you can train for, so many other ways you can prepare for it. So for guys and girls to start worrying about losing, and worrying that it is a bad situation, it is something that is very negative. It is something that takes away from the beauty of the sport. But you can either run away from it, or you can run back and learn what you missed out on.
We train for the unknown. That is what is so awesome about it. You get to fight against guys that you’ve never met before, and you get to learn a whole new game that you’ve only seen in films. It is just an awesome feeling, and that is what MMA is all about. You get to learn something from someone who is training just like you, and you get to watch it being trained. You get to learn what it takes to go through that process. I think that is a key thing to remember about being in the UFC is that all of your fights are not going to be fair, and nothing is going to be a fair fight. I think that is what makes it so exciting about it, is that as you go through your fight, you learn about your opponent, you learn about the other guy, you learn about his style, you learn about what he does, and you learn about how he does it.
😓 👄 🤴
You learn about your own style of fighting, and that is just a great feeling, and you get to be a student for that style. “I think that is a key thing to remember about being in the UFC is that all of your fights are not going to be fair, and nothing is going to be a fair fight.” But you know you can learn from guys going through their fights, but you are going to be facing those guys. You are going to be facing those guys twice a year. You are going to be getting that exposure. You are going to be learning from that guys training. So it is not fair for the other guy to be going through his opponent’s training. So it is all about being in control. It is about not running away from that.
